It was the end of the long day, as in five airports and three flights before making it home. I smelled like an airplane. But what I kept thinking about – besides wanting to give my teeth and my face a good scrubbing – was the guy I was lucky enough to travel with. The one who carries the heavy bags, gets us to where we need to be (did I ever mention the time I missed my flight??), and lets me use the noise cancelling headphones. He’s the one who doesn’t blink twice if I let my emotions get the best of me and have a breakdown, the one who always takes my hand, who knows to stay out of my way if I’m right in the middle of something and working away, and who encourages me to keep going. He’s my right hand man at most weddings, my favourite dance partner (even if he pretends like he can’t dance and I have to drag him onto the floor), and the one who makes me laugh on a daily basis. He’s the one I love going on adventures with and today we’re going on one we haven’t yet gone on together: camping. Along with my sister and her boyfriend, and most likely in the rain. He’s the one who laughs at me when I tell him I know how to build a campfire. But I’ll be the one proving how well I can tough it out in the woods…at least I hope so ;) In any case, here’s to this adventure and many more :)
