One of my favourite things at Christmastime is seeing all the twinkling lights that decorate trees, mantles, houses, even buses. I learned from my mom to decorate the tree using hundreds of little white lights (this year she used 1200!), up and down every branch and while it’s a lot of work, I love the way it brightens up the room. My mom doesn’t just decorate the tree in an extravagant way, but she decorates the entire house like that. Ornaments, trees, and more lights and candles than you can count. It’s a lot, but it’s festive, and it makes it Christmas.
Yesterday at church, I was reminded what all those lights represent at this time of year.
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it….the true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.” John 1:4-5, 9
Jesus, the light of the world, was coming and that’s why we celebrate Christmas and that’s what I want to remember when I see all those lights.

This is meaningful. I’m heading out to the store for more lights and decorations. He is the Light of my life. Merry Christams :)

Amen!
p.s. love the last picture – what a unique way to decorate (and SO fitting for those of us who love spending time in the kitchen)! :)

I love what you write, but I have to second Ang’s comment — the decorations in the last picture are so creative and cute! Thanks for sharing. :-)
