The crowds had all dissipated, the warmly bundled children all tucked away, as we made our way through the snowy streets. We’re warmly bundled, tucked away in our scarves and coats, on our way back to our hotel after a late dinner at the highly recommended Cochon Dingue. Two things we like to do often and do very well: travel and eat. Here, we’re surrounded by history, it’s in the stone wall buildings, the cobbled streets. You could tell me I was in some European town and I would believe you. There are buttery croissants and warm goat cheese salads, steaming cappuccinos and a pint or two of beer and hopefully some bubbly, for an early birthday celebration.
Coming to Quebec City, it’s as though we’ve been transported not only to another country, but back a month, to Christmas, with all their festive wreaths and trees and lights…make that Christmastime some 400 years ago. And I have never seen so much snow before. I have a new appreciation for Canada. I recognize names from school text books and I have a new appreciation for grade eight social studies, and yes I wish I had paid more attention in class. Our visit here coincides with the opening of Carnaval de Quebec, their annual winter celebration and we embraced it by taking a horse drawn sleigh ride, something I’ve always wanted to do.
The sun is shining through our window that looks out at the Chateau Frontenac, and we’re about to set out exploring again…avant la prochaine fois :)
We quickly realized that Shane would need some winter boots…
Thank you April and Jamie, friends who recommended this place!
To the right, Shane’s attempt at ‘where’s waldo’…
Classic timer shot ;)

Visited when I was in Gr.8(class trip) and again when I was 20. J’adore vieux-Québec! Have contemplated many times getting married there (I am from Edmonton)but seemed to have forgotten that dream since being engaged. How on EARTH do you manage to look SO stylish in such cold weather?! You make it look as sexy as a bikini! I remember traveling Vienna in the snowy winter, wearing my SNOW PANTS over my jeans, and Andrew saying it wasn’t the best look for me and my bum… but at least I was warm :) ha!

Quebec looks like such a pretty place and your photos of it are stunning. Do you mind me asking, what lens did you use? And do you shoot wide open most of the time?
