After a few long days of productivity at home in my office (leaving just once, for a gym class), I was ready for a breather. My eyes ached and my lungs demanded fresh air. And apparently my sister and I had never spent a day in Vancouver together…as in, we’re friends so let’s go hang out in the city and shop and eat amazing food. She and I really made a day of it. My camera came along and we nearly collapsed in laughter as we took pictures in Stanley Park; the kind of laughter where your faces scrunches so hard and tears pour down your face. We ate delectable porchetta sandwiches at Meat & Bread (thank you Robyn for first introducing me!), and later, amongst candlelight and paper mache sea monsters, at The Eatery (such good sushi!). We practised our best ‘it’s Jess!’ impressions. We marvelled at the fact that she’s 23 and I’m 25 and how did we get to be so old? (okay, relatively speaking…) When we were little, we did our fair share of fighting. Now that we’ve matured (for the most part), and enjoy each other’s company (for the most part) it dawned on me yesterday that she’s one of the few people who truly gets me and knows me best. And that we should have more Vancouver dates together in the future.
