She couldn’t keep the tears from streaming as she made her way through the hayloft to her groom for their first look. He stood there, letter from his bride in his hands, having only just received and read it moments before, handed to him by the maid of honor. Her mom said it was a “mean” thing to do, but Ang needed to put pen to paper to express her feelings. And maybe to build the anticipation. She tapped him on the shoulder and there they were, his bride, her groom, their wedding day upon them.
Months of hard work stood behind them, having prepared Ang’s parents’ farm for the wedding; they cleaned out the hayloft for the ceremony, reinforced the flooring, power washed and gave the barn a fresh coat of paint, and built a staircase leading up to the loft. Then there was the reception area. For that, a cornfield was designed and planted, a grassy pathway giving way to an intimate, festive space where they could celebrate with their guests into the night. And that only scratches the surface of all the diy details. The bar pictured further below? The head table stage and gorgeous backdrop? All built by hand. Chad and Ang’s wedding was the definition of a labor of love. Which is why this blog post is so full of photos…
Chad and Ang, your day was remarkable for all these reasons and more, much more. Thank you for your trust in me and my camera and for the honor of being your wedding photographer. You two know how to love and celebrate well, and it was such a joy to document the start of your marriage!
Montana was on hand for the girls’ gorgeous hair, and Ang’s friend Darcie did an impeccable job on the makeup…
Tammy of Blooms in Design did a beautiful job on the florals…
Ang mapped out a couple great photo locations, the first one being their show barn with a cow named Apple…
The thing that makes Ang a true beauty is her heart…no lie.
I could have photographed these two all day long…but there was a ceremony to get to…
Post ceremony hay wagon ride? Yes please!
Crave catered and it was amazing!
Congrats Chad & Ang!
**Edited to add: the barn belongs to the bride’s family and is not for rent**

Wow, Mikaela, nice work again. LOVE all the details in this wedding. Was that a little cross at the top (inside) of the barn? Made it look kinda like a church (like Bakerview with all the wood) when you looked at the inside of the barn from the back in one of your first pics.
LOVED looking at ALL these, and just wanna say the bride’s earrings are gorgeous. Great little details.

Lovely lovely pics! There’s a warm fuzzy feel captured. Could you pretty please tell me what this farm is called? I’m looking for a venue a lot like this one. Thank-you! :)

Thanks Sarah! The farm is the bride’s parents’, unfortunately not a wedding venue.

Stunning photos! We are getting married in June and I was hoping we could get a list of your wedding photography packages? Could you please also send me info on this wedding venu if it is available to rent? We also wants a farm wedding. Thank you!

This is absolutely perfect! Do you know if they family would ever consider renting out the barn and property for another wedding? I would love to have my 2014 wedding here!!
Barb says
WOW, the photos are all bang on fabulous! Love your photographic ‘artistry’. As a florist, I’m asked for farm locations and it seems that many are at private locations. Where the heck in Chilliwack is this one. It looks like Saar Banks Farms, but I didn’t think they were in business this year. Would love to know if this ‘prime’ spot is being rented to just anyone.
Thanks bunches & all the best with your biz!
Barb

Hi Shereen! The decor was all DIY by the bride and groom!

Hi!
I’m helping my sister plan her wedding, which will be on October 4th 2014. Do you know if this barn is available for a ceremony or reception? If so, do you know the price and the capacity?
Thanks so much!
