Their wedding day was a culmination of Chinese and Western traditions, with a strong sense of faith and family. Simpson and Marissa began the festivities with those closest to them, at the Radisson Vancouver Airport Hotel. There were the traditional door games, where the groom must win his way to his bride, and then the tea ceremony, where the bride and groom served tea to family members and received gifts. From there, we traveled to Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country Club, where Marissa changed from her red gown into her white wedding dress, and became Simpson’s wife in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Photos were taken at Minoru Park in Richmond, chosen by Simpson and Marissa as it was there that they shared their first date, on a New Year’s Eve over four years ago. These two (and their wedding party!) were such a delight to photograph! And thankfully, their wedding took place in between heat waves :) Back at Mayfair Lakes, the reception celebrations began with their first dance and included some of the most heartwarming, and funny, speeches from friends and family alike. To the newlyweds, Simpson and Marissa, I’m so grateful I was able to document your day! Wishing you both nothing but the best as you begin your married life together.
