Shane likes to say “at least we’ll only ever have to do this once in our lives.” That is, plan a wedding. He likes to remind me of that when the fun leaves the planning and we’re left with unending to-do lists. Brides, you know what I’m talkin’ about. Everyone is all “enjoy this time of being engaged!” And you want to reply “I’m TRYING to!” Haha…I don’t mean to offend anyone, honestly. We are enjoying this time and the process of planning our wedding…like the gift registry. That was fun and didn’t cause any arguments like I was mentally preparing myself for :) Another really great source of fun: dreaming of the honeymoon. Those glorious days of nothing but relaxation. Sleep. No tasks, no emails, just warm sun, cutting ties to the outside world, and getting to spend quality time with my husband. Oh and can’t forget the new clothes that will be needed for such a trip as this (he’s been forewarned).

The honeymoon is the best part! I remember thinking on the morning of my wedding this past winter “This is madness. I’ll be in St. Lucia in less than 36 hours… I can do this!” Having nothing to do all day, having dinner whenever you want, made by someone else, and laying around in the sun sipping fruity drinks with the love of your life. If you nhaven’t decided on one already, do yourself a favor and go to an all-inclusive resort! SO worth it- it makes everything easy and completely simple. All you have to do is show up where you want when you want. All this talk of honeymoonds is making me itch for the Caribbean, too. Sigh!

Completely agree! The “engaged period” was probably the worst part of my husband and I’s years together. You have so much to do, so many people to please, and every time you see your soon-to-be other half you don’t say “Hi hun! What do you want to do today?” you say “So what’s next on the list?” I enjoyed reading this post and love keeping up with all your engagement stories!

I have been married two years and we talk about how wonderful our honeymoon was all the time. So amazing to have that time together away from everything! And the honeymoon clothing shopping….can you say fun!

I’m a little late posting here, but I just wanted to add my two cents. Here goes:
1. In the last few weeks leading up to my wedding, the best advice I was given was that, whenever I felt overwhelmed, I should take a deep breath and just envision the view I would have from my hammock on my honeymoon.
2. My husband and I honeymooned in St. Lucia, almost two years ago, and we constantly refer to it as our “perfect week.” I’d dreamed of St. Lucia for years, and the reality was even better. Get read for the best time of your life. Enjoy!
And please, please post a ton of pictures after your trip and send me back to my favorite island vicariously!
