Has anyone else been experiencing a case of the January blahs this week? It’s like a switch went off. Where as December was bright and cheery, January is cold and grey. Maybe it’s all the miserable, windy rain we’ve been getting…maybe it was taking down the Christmas decorations…maybe it was my trip to the dentist that left me with a filling and a very frozen face. I need a fix. Episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and a couple trips to the tanning salon (don’t judge! at a moderate rate, it’s a very good source of vitamin D!) don’t seem to be sufficing. My cardio fusion class yesterday morning at the gym almost kicked the grey skies away but doing errands in the gusty rain only brought them back. Perhaps a trip somewhere exotic and foreign and hot would do the trick…good thing Shane has time off work this month and we’re planning to hop a plane bound for . The joys of traveling standby :) I think it’s kinda exciting and I am oh so grateful for it.

Enjoy!! The first couple years we were married my husband and I had lots of standby adventures. You learn so much about a person when you’re dealing with being stranded, exploring new cities and language barriers, and my favorite…missing that last flight of the night and sleeping in the airport. Adventure or tragedy:) you also quickly realize you would kick so much butt on The Amazing Race!!

Hey, how does the standby traveling thing work? Do you buy tickets in advance or tell them you have a certain amt of money & they find you a plane? I’ve never heard of traveling on standby so I’m super curious b/c I ALWAYS have the traveling bug. Thanks so much. Also, and more importantly, thanks for being honest about your ‘not so cheery’ moments. So many times we put on masks of eternal cheerfulness that are so fake. Its so refreshing (& helpful) to realize I’m not the only one who thinks January is dreary & I’m not always spunky & optimistic. Thank you. Here’s to brighter skies & exotic trips with wonderful Hubbies!
