“I love the feeling of being anonymous in a city I’ve never been before”
We began January excited for a back packing trip in Asia…I couldn’t wait to see it through the lens of my camera. A week before we were set to leave, we learned that the airline we would be flying standby with, was not accepting standby passengers for the next month. So we tried to arrange other plans, another adventure, but doors kept closing. Then Shane’s car battery died. Then he got a flat tire one bitterly cold night. I got the feeling that God was saying something along the lines of “don’t go.” He stopped us at every turn. But here’s the thing: living with the knowledge that God is sovereign and he has our best interest at heart – better than our own – is an enormous thing. It reminds me to have peace when all I seem to be capable of is frustration.
We ended January with the trip that God had planned for us. The one that he knew would be best…all while teaching us to depend more on him, in the big things and the not so big things. This trip was sooo good…good for us, good for the soul. It was a trip of wandering unfamiliar places, and exploring unfamiliar foods. Like rabbit (mom, try not to be too upset, okay?) and turnip maple syrup soup, possibly the best thing I’ve ever tasted. We had FUN. Not only all that, but God still made sure that I would have a pretty incredible view through my camera lens. One that I am so grateful to have had.

I am so glad you both seemed to have a great time in Old Quebec City! That place is just magical in the winter with all it’s snow, little empty cafes and quiet streets. Cheers!
