Short and sweet was our time in Los Angeles this week. When I heard of Jasmine’s US tour of theFIX – conversations with Jasmine Star – I knew this was something we should attend. Talking about the struggle, setting goals, identifying strengths and weaknesses in your business and pushing it forward? Yes, I knew this was just what I needed. And it was so much more than that.
One of the greatest parts was connecting with other photographers going through the same motions, with the same challenges, and with the same instinctual desire to be better photographers and business owners. Shane and I were invited to a meet up with local LA photographers before theFIX and it was so, so wonderful. Heading down to LA, I figured Shane and I would go and know two people: Jasmine and JD. But it was so fun to walk into theFIX already with new friends.
Walking away from theFIX, I’ve got pages of notes and another dose of motivation. “The fight doesn’t go to the strongest, but to those who finish what they set out to do.” So what precisely have I set out to do? I think over the next several days, there is going to be a whole lot more note taking…scribbling down goals and putting down how to move them into action. What are my weaknesses – what do I need to outsource? What are my strengths – what should I focus on? How can I deliver the best experience for my clients?
I’ll be honest – I have a really hard time making the time for this planning, brainstorming, goal making stuff. I’m more likely to focus on what needs my attention right now, instead of mapping out for the future. This may take a few coffees and scones with devonshire cream and jam (favorite indulgence right now)…but coming off the heels of WPPI and now this, it’s time for a little change and a little more action around here.
