If I’m being honest, I’m a lot more excited to meet this baby than I was when pregnant with Isaiah. Now I know how it feels to cuddle your baby close, skin to skin, breathing in their sweet, soft scent, and hear their tiny noises. I know what it’s like to fall in love with your child, and be amazed at every little thing they do. Of course, the not-so-sweet reality comes along with it…the reality of a drug-free labor and delivery, the reality of round the clock feedings and diaper changes, and the reality of little sleep. For those reasons (and more), along with the addition of a toddler this time around, I entered this pregnancy with a little less excitement than the first…if I’m still being honest. But completely grateful and happy, yes. Now we’re coming ever nearer to the due date, and I just want to meet this little one. I can’t wait to know if Isaiah have a little brother or little sister. And this time around, we’ll be settled in our house, and not selling/showing our condo and building/packing/moving with a newborn! Life is still busy, of course, and at 37 weeks along, I’m feeling the pressure to be ready. One more shoot and I’ll be wrapping up work until June, and then it’s time to nest! Nest! Nest! And get in all the one-on-one snuggles with my first born…who will still always be my baby. 37 weeks at Easter…and butterfly kisses from my sweet boy…

Tyler and Danielle grew up going to the same schools, two years apart. He was friends with her brother, they had plenty of mutual friends, but it wasn’t until a little magic happened on Tinder that they connected. They spent hours at a coffee shop catching up on old friends, which provided just the right ice breaker, and from there, sparks flew. A couple years later, Tyler got down on bended knee in a snowy forest twinkling under strings of white lights, days before Christmas. Danielle was completely surprised, having been “ditched” by her now maid of honor just before their movie date. Tyler swooped in with a romantic date in the city, before capping the evening off with ice skating at Grouse Mountain, and a proposal in winter wonderland. Pretty perfect, don’t you think? I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding this August at Performance Works on Granville Island! Danielle and Tyler, thank you so much for joining me at Lighthouse Park last weekend…here’s a sneak peek of our time together…

Sometimes it takes moving across the country to meet your soul mate…even when that person grew up in your hometown! Both Joanna and Dave call Vancouver home, but live and work in Toronto. They’re planning their wedding at the Vancouver Club for this summer, and I couldn’t be more excited to be their wedding photographer. I knew just by chatting with Joanna on the phone that I would love to be a part of their day. We met up for Dave and Joanna’s engagement session while they were out last week and enjoyed exploring Granville Island. What I really appreciate is when a couple puts thought into their session and location…I feel it shows in the results! Dave and Joanna wanted their photos to feel Vancouver and with that in mind, chose a few spots around Granville. The cherry blossoms we discovered at the end wrapped the shoot up perfectly.

There’s something so uplifting about working with a team of determined creatives with heart, especially on a personal project like this. Seeing this styled shoot come beautifully to life was so encouraging (and exciting!). What has also been encouraging, is the welcome I’ve received in the Bellingham wedding community. For that, I’m thankful, and I owe some amazing women many thanks for this collaboration in particular. Tight timelines and the threat of inclement weather almost halted our plans, but with a last minute location change, and that determination, we pulled it off! This shoot also couldn’t have happened without our models, Gord and Melissa, who will actually be getting married this summer! The seed for our styled shoot was planted over coffee with the lovely Ashley of Love Beauty Bellingham, who clearly has a way with makeup… And these flowers! Eucalyptus, proteas, roses, an air plant…all made gorgeous by Kate at In Bloom Designs. Gord and Melissa were a joy to work with. It’s not every man who will take a day to patiently sit through hair and makeup and put on a suit to have pictures taken, but it made Melissa happy, so Gord was happy, too. I loved that. We were all swooning over the gorgeous two piece dresses that Meghann and Kathleen at Frankie & Maude designed. Such lovely women, doing beautiful things. Special thanks to Kathleen for coming along to the shoot and assisting. Many thanks to Elspeth at Hair Art Studio for Melissa’s romantic up do… And thank you to Leslie at Lairmont Manor who got us in last minute…this wedding venue, tucked away in Fairhaven, provided all sorts of pretty with which to shoot. Darragh and Maddie were married this past Saturday, marking the first wedding of 2016, my sixth wedding season! I had been looking forward to this day for some time, having had worked with this family on a couple occasions in the past. Most recently was when Darragh and Maddie welcomed their sweet boy Declan, last Spring. Their wedding happened upon the one beautiful day in a string of stormy weather. It began at Maddie’s parents’ gorgeous condo overlooking the water as the girls were made up and dressed up in gold sequins and layers of white, champagne flutes in hand. Then it was off to the church for an intimate and traditional Catholic ceremony, surrounded by mostly family and a few close friends. Declan was so handsome in his tux and so well behaved as he watched his beautiful mama and daddy become husband and wife. Portraits were taken at the Roundhouse Community Center and along the seawall in Yaletown. I think we all will agree that this wedding party was seriously stylish! So classy. We wrapped things up and whisked the bride and groom back for the reception at La Terrazza, where the wine flowed, dances were had, stories were shared and love was celebrated. Many thanks to Darragh and Maddie and their families! May you two be thoroughly enjoying your time – and each other – on the sunny beaches of Cabo. Today I’m excited to share new promotional images of a girl I’m proud to call a friend, Jamie Delaine. She’s smart, she’s successful, and she’s been beautifully photographing weddings since she was in high school! Jamie has since grown her business beyond just shooting, and always seems to have more than one project on the go. Jamie and her husband Randy are also the founders of The School Sessions, a non-profit where photographers photograph a session in the month of April, with the entire session fee going toward building a school in Haiti. If you’re a photographer or a potential client, it’s not too late to get involved! Please check out the website for more information. For all of Jamie’s business endeavours, new head shots were needed and we had so much fun working on these together…

My beautiful friend Julie and her husband welcomed another little boy into their family recently! It was such a treat to meet him and document them as a family of four, at home. And as though I wasn’t already excited to meet my next baby…seeing Nash snuggle into his mama’s chest, in all of his new baby scent and sweetness, I just about melted. Julie, Sean, and Jude, we’re so happy for you and the arrival of Nash! He’s pretty perfect.

Last April, Kenzie was born to a past bride and groom of mine, Vanessa and Kenny. However, she wasn’t due to arrive until August – over three months later. Needless to say, this sweet little girl has been a fighter since the day she was born. She’s also been carried by the unconditional love of her beautiful mama and daddy, and the prayers and support of so many family and friends, not to mention doctors and nurses. As a parent, it’s hard to imagine the struggle that Kenny and Vanessa have faced as they’ve watched their baby girl meet challenges that not many little ones have to endure. But they’ve handled it with such grace and positivity. Kenzie may have spent the first several months of her life in hospitals, but she is thriving and in her happy place now at home! It was pretty sweet to see her there, and document this special family… Crib: Jenny Lind, from Lusso Baby Floral prints: Minted Light Fixture: Serena & Lily Floral swaddle blanket: Little Unicorn Mocassins: Minimoc

It was a beautiful Spring evening and we got to spend it wandering the streets of New York City with these two. We really couldn’t have asked for a better time. The architecture and colors, the lighting as the sun sank lower in the sky, and the love shared between Randy and Sumeuy was all so inspiring and made for one of my favorite photo shoots in my five years as a wedding photographer…

Last Fall I had the pleasure of second shooting for Jamie Delaine at a gorgeous wedding in Vancouver (just look at the girls’ gowns!). The day was long (12+ hours!) and full but between working alongside Jamie, and such a joyful bride and groom, I was grateful for the opportunity. Below are a handful of the images I captured, and here you can see Jamie’s full post from the day. Many thanks to Jamie, and a warm congrats to the newlyweds!
