I have never been more grateful for a classic rainy day in Vancouver. A major storm had been predicted for Arvi and Doris’ wedding day – the remnants of a typhoon – but fortunately, this uninvited wedding guest never showed! The rain still fell for a portion of the day, but Arvi and Doris didn’t mind stepping out into the rain for their first look, underneath the cover of umbrellas. They were wed in a cozy indoor ceremony at the Stanley Park Teahouse, with warm candlelight and in front of an intimate gathering of family and friends. Following the ceremony, we stepped back outside for photos while the rain had subsided, and even were treated to a brief appearance of the sun. Arvi and Doris, I’m so thankful I was able to document your first day as husband and wife! You’re some of the kindest people I’ve had the privilege of working with, and I wish you nothing but the best as you begin your life together. Cayden and Jolene began dating just over three years ago…shortly after Cayden’s brother and Jolene’s sister were married! That wedding is one that will always be near and dear to me (have a peek at it here! It was one of the most loved on the blog), so it was pretty exciting to hear that these two were now getting married. I feel so honoured that I’ll be photographing another wedding in the family…both families. Cayden and Jolene will say I do this New Year’s Eve, and will ring in 2017 as husband and wife with family and friends in the hayloft at her parents’ farm. Needless to say, I can’t wait!

The clock struck midnight, ringing in a new year, and he decided to ask if he could kiss her. She said yes, and as they shared that first kiss, something resonated within each of them. She said it was like everything aligned. It was like magic. And I think, as evidenced in our shoot and in these photos, that magic continues 3+ years and a proposal later. And I had so much fun getting to document it. Sabah and Richelle, I can’t thank you enough! For such a wonderful time at your engagement session last week, and for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I’m excitedly looking forward to your wedding next June!

I arrived at the bridal suite at Fraser River Lodge where Sam was applying her own makeup, relaxed and surrounded by her best girls, including her mom and sisters. The rain had been pouring all day without much hope of letting up, but you couldn’t tell by the happy atmosphere in that room. Gifts were given and opened, flower crowns adorned, glasses of rosé poured, and a toast to the bride was made. Nearby, Andrew got ready with his groomsmen and the rain continued… Hair was styled by the ladies at Hello, Lovely and bouquets were arranged by 99 Nursery & Florist The ceremony was held underneath a tent… It was cozy and romantic against the sound of the rain, it was sweet, it was funny, and their officiant was perfectly quirky and one of the best I’d seen… All day I had been praying for a window of dry weather for portraits, but planning on rain. While the rain suddenly burst in a fresh down pour when Sam and Andrew were being pronounced Mr and Mrs, it let up soon after. I couldn’t believe the timing! These two were a joy to photograph (I adored their engagement session last Fall, too)! I loved the whimsical theme of bees and honey that was woven throughout the wedding day. Each table was named after a different flower, and guests were given sweet favours of honey sticks. Taking a few quiet moments during the reception to enjoy the sunset and each other… Sam and Andrew, I couldn’t be more grateful to have documented your wedding day! I can’t say enough good things about it, and you and your families. Congratulations and much appreciation!

Matt and Lindsay were wed at the beautiful Rowena’s Inn on the River recently. They first met 15 years ago in college, good friends but nothing more. The two of them would be overheard studying at the dining table, most likely more laughing going on than actual studying. Years passed and again their paths crossed. This time, there was a first date and a go at a relationship, one that had Matt proposing this past Christmas, and the two of them exchanging handwritten wedding vows… While I photographed the girls getting ready, Shane photographed the guys. Shane and Lindsay have actually been co-workers at WestJet for the past several years, so it was only fitting that he, who used to be my main second shooter, join me in documenting their day. Congratultions, Matt & Lindsay! Thank you so much for the privilege of being your wedding photographers! Venue: Rowena’s Inn on the River Hair: Ms Monica Ryan Makeup: Make Me Up By Nicole

My cousin Kyle married his beautiful bride, Danielle, in Summerland earlier this month. Family came together and made wedding dreams come true… To start things off, our cousin Megs and her husband Trevor bought a fruit stand and bakery in Summerland last year, and offered up their property for the festivities. Surrounded by an apple orchard and rows of cherry trees, under a (thankfully) sunny Okanagan sky, the wedding took place. Garden lights were strung up between posts made by Danielle’s dad, tables were set with gold and white linens, topped with gold and white painted wine bottles holding over 600 white roses and hydrangeas. Furniture was arranged, many pieces having traveled from the homes of family in the Fraser Valley or refinished by the mother of the groom, my aunt. She also made the bouquets, boutonnieres and gold painted chalkboard signs. Candles were everywhere, including hanging from the trees, and a fire pit was set up to keep cozy around when the evening turned chilly. Our photobooth was also on hand to help keep the party going into the night. I could keep going! It all came together to make for one beautiful wedding…but of course, what made the wedding a wedding, were the bride and groom themselves, their love that was celebrated, and the love and support of family and friends who witnessed Kyle and Danielle’s I do’s. The wedding party got ready at Summerland Waterfront Resort, and I got to hang out with Danielle and her girls… Shane photographed Kyle and his groomsmen… What was really fun about this wedding, was having so much family in the wedding party! That’s my brother Logan in the background, in the middle, and my cousin Kaleb to the right, whose wedding I photographed last year. His lovely wife Sherry was a bridesmaid! There was no shortage of happy tears throughout the day, including during Kyle and Danielle’s first look… The arbor under which Kyle and Danielle were married was also built by her Dad Mr & Mrs Trozzo! Happy first birthday, Cohen! What was once one of my favorite couples to photograph, has become one of my favorite families…the fact that I’ve been photographing Marcus and Stephanie since their engagement is not something I take lightly. It’s been a privilege and so much fun to follow along with my camera as they got married and have started a family. I loved their two sessions last summer, as they were expecting their little boy and we shot along the water at sunset, and then when they had welcomed him home. And now Cohen is one! We enjoyed the early evening light while Cohen explored, played, and got loved on by his mama and daddy. He was just too sweet! Loved this kid’s outfit, right down to his stylish Minimocs!

Meet sweet baby Lina. Four years ago, I had the best time photographing her parents’ wedding, Alan and Stephanie, and so I was all too happy to photograph their growing family last week! It’s such a privilege to get to document the lives of my clients beyond their wedding day. Lina was not quite two weeks old when we took these photos, and was an absolute doll the whole time through. Thank you so much for inviting me into your home, Alan and Stephanie. Wishing you all the best as you settle into being a family of three and get to know your little Lina…welcome to the world, beautiful baby girl!

Tyler and Danielle were wed in a beautiful outdoor ceremony by the water on Granville Island. Friends and family gathered and watched as Danielle’s brother gave her away to Tyler, a happy and excited groom if you ever did see one. The day had begun with Danielle and her bridesmaids at the Hyatt with glasses of wine and so many gorgeous details. I loved the mix of bridesmaid dresses, the light blue, blush and cream. And the flowers! Danielle cried upon laying eyes on them when they arrived at her hotel room, so happy to see they were just what she had envisioned. From the Hyatt, we travelled to Granville Island where Danielle and Tyler shared a first look just before the ceremony. It was busy day there, but with the help of Tyler’s groomsmen who kept passersby at bay, we kept a corner quiet for just the two of them to share a few (tearful yet joyful) moments together. It set the tone for a gorgeous, celebrative wedding day… Tyler and Danielle, I’m so grateful I was able to share in and document your wedding day! It was a privilege and I wish you two nothing but the best. I loved their first look! There was no shortage of emotional moments throughout the day, including the first time Danielle’s mom saw her in her wedding gown, moments before walking down the aisle… After becoming Mr & Mrs, and a few photos on the island, we boarded a sea bus headed for Yaletown and more photos… Danielle went all out on wedding details and decor and it showed…the reception at Performance Works was stunning… Ceremony Venue: Ron Basford Park Reception Venue: Performance Works Day of Coordinator: Memory Laine Events Flowers: Budget Blooms Hair: Liz at Mink Makeup & Hair Makeup: Heather Dyck Beauty DJ: Eller Sound
