Yesterday in small town America we had our second annual Fourth of July hot dog roast at our property. Up until not long ago we imagined being in our new house, with my green card, celebrating with a BBQ. With neither of those in place yet (and our patience being tested!), we went ahead with the festivities like last year – around the campfire with family and friends, with an abundance of food and fireworks and we didn’t know the difference. But first, a bike ride around town and (massive amounts of) ice cream with my brother and his girlfriend Avery. We quite like her. It was extra special to have my cousin Narissa out from Chicago, along with her itty bitty son Seth! There’s a peek at our house. At this point we’re not sure what will come first – it or the baby! A few days before, my Dad casually announced this cupcake idea he saw on Pinterest…and we all looked at him in disbelief that he was on Pinterest. But they turned out almost too good to eat!
